SPANISH ENDEAVOURS
As requested, I have gathered
my Spanish ensembles into this one gallery. It covers both the gowns and the
accessories I have made to suit my persona of Isabel
Maria del Aguila. |
|

|
COURT GOWNS
The section
of my wardrobe devoted to
gowns of the nobility and upper classes from throughout the SCA period. As
you will see I have studied garments from a variety of different
eras and locations ranging from Frankish to high Gothic, from renaissance
Venetian
to Elizabethan and, of course, late period
Spanish. |
|

|
TOURNEY DRESSES
These
garments are the ones I tend to wear while camping or working
or when faced with challenging weather conditions.
As a result they are generally less spectacular
than my Court Gowns, but considerably more practical and
comfortable. Not to mention, far
more easily laundered.

HATS & HEADWEAR
Having a properly covered head is strangely important to me when
I am in garb, particularly when my hair is not long
enough to support an appropriate hairstyle.
Also, hats are seriously cool. |
|

|
DRESS ACCESSORIES
I firmly
believe that it is the accessories that take an outfit from good to
outstanding, so I make such accessories as opportunity allows.
This gallery includes the likes of jewelled belts, necklaces, pouches and
"fur-lined hand-warming devices".

OTHER PROJECTS
There are
a lot of 'other' things I dabble in, and this is a repository for
these other projects. For instance, woodwork, imitating period enamelled glasswear,
sweetmeats and more.
Yes, I am easily
distracted. |
|

|
EVENTS
From time
to time I get an idea for an event that simply must be carried out, and
this "gallery" includes some reminiscences about my favourites - like
the Carnivale Ball..
I don't get to run events very
often, but I have worked with some wonderful people, and we do have something of
a reputation for doing flash
events. |

VICTORIAN DISTRACTIONS
Having been fascinated by Victorian fashions since
an early age, I was lucky enough to be given an
opportunity to indulge myself some years ago. As a
result, I am building a wardrobe so that I can attend the whole Heritage
festival in Oamaru (including the Ball, Fete, Garden Party and Croquet) in suitable style. It is a
lot of fun.

RAQS
Bellydance is
one of my passions. Obtaining traditional
bedleh (or any other bellydance costumes) can be both difficult and expensive in NZ, so
many of us tend to make our own.
Besides, where else can I play with sequins,
beads, chiffon, synthetic fabrics and other shiny
things? |
